The Houston, TX equipment rental company in this case was upset when a customer failed to return a 2012 Bobcat T190 Skid Steer, but they were also prepared for the situation. They had protected this asset with the LoJack® system when it was purchased. Local law enforcement, assisted by LoJack, recovered the machine quickly and safely.

On June 3rd, 2014, the rental company contacted the Houston Police Department. Officers verified the theft and entered the machine’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the skid steer.

The next day, officers from the Houston PD picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen equipment on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Bobcat was located being towed by a truck and trailer on the Eastex Freeway. The officers performed a traffic stop and retrieved the skid steer, valued at $44,000, and soon returned it to the grateful rental company.
