The daughter of the owner of a 2011 BMW 328i in Houston, TX, had a terrible experience while using her dad’s car recently. She was carjacked at gunpoint and, luckily, not injured. Local law enforcement recovered the vehicle later that same day with help from the LoJack® system that was installed when it was purchased.

On June 5th, 2014, the BMW’s owner contacted the Harris County Sheriff’s Department to report the crime. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the 328i, which was installed at BMW of Houston North in Houston, TX.

Later that same day, a State Police helicopter picked up the silent homing signals from the LoJack System installed in the stolen car on their on-board LoJack tracking computer. The air crew tracked the vehicle to an apartment complex on Blue Ash Drive. Harris County deputies were directed to the location and found the BMW was parked and abandoned in a visitor space. Deputies retrieved the 328i and quickly returned it to its grateful owner. The investigation is ongoing.
