The owner of a Toyota Corolla in Houston, TX, woke up and discovered his vehicle had been stolen from his driveway on a recent Thursday. The LoJack® system that had been installed when the car was purchased helped local law enforcement make a fast, safe, same-day recovery.

The Toyota’s owners contacted the Harris County Constable‘s office to report that their vehicle was stolen on June 5th, 2014. Constables verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Corolla, which was installed at Mike Calvert Toyota in Houston, TX.

A short while later, deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Toyota was found in the back lot of a large apartment complex, parked and abandoned. Police retrieved the Corolla and soon returned to its pleased owner.
