The owner of an Infiniti M35 in Chicago, IL hit a pothole while driving near 75th and Ashland Avenue in Chicago’s Wrightwood neighborhood. He pulled his car over to inspect for damage and was accosted by four armed suspects who stole his vehicle. With help from the LoJack® system that was installed when the M35 was purchased, local law enforcement recovered the car that same day and took a suspect into custody.

On May 25th, 2014, the Infiniti’s owners contacted the Chicago Police Department. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack device concealed in the M35, which was installed at Infiniti Gold Coast in Chicago, IL, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, patrol officers from Chicago PD’s 6th District picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Infiniti was located at a gas station in Chicago’s East Chatham neighborhood. One suspect was observed near the vehicle and taken into custody. Police retrieved the M35 and quickly returned it to its pleased owner. Investigation into this incident continues.
