In this case, air and ground units of law enforcement in Texas team up, with help from the LoJack® system, to recover a Toyota Camry stolen from its owners’ residence in Clute, TX, on a recent Monday.

On May 19th, 2014, the Toyota’s owners contacted the Clute Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the Camry, which was installed at Toyota Chula Vista in Chula Vista, CA, was then automatically activated.

A while later, air crew officers from the Texas Department of Public Safety picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their helicopter. The Toyota was located in the parking lot of a bar in Alvin. The flight crew requested ground assistance. As the Alvin PD approached, two subjects entered the vehicle and drove out onto a public street. A traffic stop was initiated and the male driver fled on foot but was soon apprehended. The female passenger was also taken into custody. The Camry was retrieved and soon returned to its grateful owners.
