The owner of a Hyundai Sonata parked his car at his home on a recent Tuesday night. He woke up the following morning to discover it missing. The LoJack® system that was installed when the vehicle was purchased proved its worth by helping local law enforcement not only recover the Sonata but take two suspects into custody as well.

On May 28th, 2014, the Hyundai’s owner contacted the DeKalb County Police to report the incident. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Sonata, which was installed at Route 1 Hyundai in Avenel, NJ.

A short while later, a Georgia State Patrol trooper received the silent homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The Hyundai was located traveling on a side street in Atlanta with two people inside. The trooper called for backup and, after a brief pursuit, a traffic stop was made. The suspects attempted to flee on foot but were quickly captured. The Sonata was soon returned to its appreciative owners.
