A 2012 Toyota Highlander had just emerged from a car wash in Orange, NJ, and was parked and waiting to be dried with the keys in the ignition. Suddenly,a thief jumped into the driver’s seat and drove away. The LoJack® system that had been installed when the SUV was purchased helped local law enforcement make a fast, safe recovery.

On May 24th, 2014, the Toyota’s owner contacted the Orange Police Department. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This action automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Highlander, which was installed at Towne Toyota in Ledgewood, NJ.

A short while later, officers from the Orange PD picked up the silent homing signals coming from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Toyota was located in a shopping mall lot, where it was parked and unoccupied. Police retrieved the Highlander and soon returned it to its thankful owners.
