On a recent Saturday evening, the owners of a Toyota Corolla parked it in front of their home in Palm Springs, FL. When they wanted to use the car the next day, they discovered it was gone. These victims didn’t have to worry long thanks to the LoJack® system that was installed when the vehicle was purchased. Local police, with LoJack’s help, were able to make a fast, safe, same-day recovery.

The Toyota’s owners contacted the Palm Springs Police Department to report their vehicle stolen on May 18th, 2014. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Corolla, which was installed at Palm Beach Toyota in West Palm Beach, FL.

Later that afternoon, a Miami-Dade Police Department pilot picked up the silent homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his helicopter. The Toyota was located in the area of Northeast 139th Street and Biscayne Boulevard. Ground units from the North Miami and North Miami Beach Police Departments responded to the area and found the car parked and abandoned in an apartment complex lot. The Corolla was retrieved and soon returned to its appreciative owners.
