On a recent Tuesday in Miami, FL, the owners of a Ford F-250 King Ranch discovered their truck was missing from its parking spot in front of their Dania Beach, FL home. Because this pickup was protected with the LoJack® system when it was purchased, local police, with LoJack’s help, were able to recover the vehicle later that same day.

The Ford’s owner contacted the Broward County Sheriff’s Office to report their vehicle stolen on May 20th, 2014. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the F-250, which was installed at Maroone Ford of Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Within minutes of activation, Miami Gardens PD officers picked up the silent homing signal from the stolen truck on their on-board LoJack tracking computers. The Ford was located backed into a parking space in an apartment complex lot on N.W. 183rd Street in Miami Gardens. Police retrieved the F-250 and soon returned it to its relieved owners.
