In this case, a Nissan Altima is stolen from its owner’s home in Miami, FL on a Sunday morning and recovered that afternoon by local law enforcement assisted by the LoJack® system that was installed when the car was purchased.

On April 27th, 2014, the Nissan’s owner contacted the Miami Police Department to report their vehicle stolen. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Maxima, which was installed at Cox Nissan in Bronx, NY.

Later that afternoon, a member of the Miami-Dade Auto Theft Task Force picked up the silent homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The Nissan was located parked and abandoned on N.W. 1st Terrace. The officer set up surveillance and requested backup. The car was moved two times and was eventually retrieved by the ATTF beneath the carport of a private home on N.W. 33rd Street. The Altima’s owners were thrilled to have their vehicle returned to them.
