A recent Wednesday did not start off well for the West Palm Beach, FL resident in this case when he discovered his Honda Accord was missing from its spot at his apartment complex. It wasn’t gone for long thanks to local law enforcement, who, with help from the LoJack® system, recovered the car later that same morning.

On April 16th, 2014, the Honda’s owner contacted the West Palm Beach Police Department to report his vehicle stolen. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Accord, which was installed at Maroone Dodge of Pembroke Pines, FL.

Just a few minutes later, a West Palm Beach PD detective assigned to the Auto Theft Task Force picked up the silent homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The Honda was located at an apartment complex on North Congress Avenue, where it was backed into a spot, parked and abandoned. After a brief surveillance, the Accord was retrieved and soon returned to its grateful owner.
