The owners of a Nissan Sentra in Florida parked their car in front of their home in Florida on a recent Saturday night. When they returned Sunday morning, their vehicle was missing. Because this car was protected by the LoJack® system, local police were able to recover it that same day.

On May 4th, 2014, the Nissan’s owner contacted the Miami-Dade Police to report their vehicle stolen. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Sentra, which was installed at Maroone Nissan of Pembroke Pines, FL.

Later that afternoon, a Miami-Dade PD pilot picked up the silent homing signal from the stolen Sentra on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his airship. The Nissan was parked and abandoned in a lot on NW 22nd Avenue in Opa-Locka and the pilot requested ground assistance. The Sentra was retrieved by the Opa-Locka PD ground unit and soon returned to its thankful owners.
