A Toyota Tundra was discovered missing from its owners’ Miami, FL home on a recent Sunday morning. The LoJack® system that was installed when the pickup was purchased helped local law enforcement make a quick, safe, same-day recovery.

On April 27th, 2014, the Toyota’s owner contacted the Miami-Dade Police Department to report their vehicle stolen. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Tundra, which was installed at Kendall Toyota in Miami, FL.

Later that afternoon, a Miami-Dade PD pilot picked up the silent homing signal from the stolen truck on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his airship. The pilot located the Toyota in the area of S.W. 8th Street and Krome Avenue and requested ground assistance. Ground units located the pickup, parked and abandoned. The Tundra was recovered and soon returned to its thankful owners.
