In this case, the owners of a Honda CR-V parked their vehicle on Jefferson Avenue in Miami Beach, FL, on a recent Friday evening. When they returned later, the SUV was missing. Because the CR-V was protected with the LoJack® system, local law enforcement, assisted by LoJack, made a recovery later that same evening.

On May 2nd, 2014, the Honda’s owner contacted the Miami Beach Police Department to report their SUV stolen. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police procedure automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the CR-V, which was installed at A Alarm Auto Alarms in Miami, FL.

Within minutes of activation, Miami and Miami-Dade PD officers picked up the silent homing signal from the stolen SUV on their on-board LoJack tracking computers. The Honda was found in a public garage, parked and abandoned. Officers retrieved the CR-V and soon returned it to its happy owners.
