When the Fort Lauderdale, FL resident in this loaned her 2010 Ford Focus to her boyfriend to go to a convenience store on a recent Sunday morning, she probably didn’t expect him to leave it running and unlocked while he went inside, and he definitely did not expect the car to be gone when he returned. Thanks to the excellent work of local law enforcement, aided by the LoJack® system that was installed when the car was purchased, it was recovered that same morning.

On April 27th, 2014, the Ford’s owner contacted the Fort Lauderdale Police Department to report her vehicle stolen. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police procedure automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Focus, which was installed at Maroone Ford of Margate, FL.

Within minutes, Broward County Sheriff’s deputies picked up the silent homing signal from the stolen car on the on-board LoJack tracking computers. The Ford was discovered traveling on N.W. 58th Avenue in Sunrise, and a traffic stop was performed. All three occupants attempted to flee on foot but were quickly taken into custody. The focus was retrieved and soon returned to its relieved owner.
