The owner of a Dodge Caravan discovered it was missing from its parking spot in front of her Newark, NJ home on a recent Saturday. The LoJack® system that was installed when the minivan was purchased assisted local law enforcement in making a safe same day recovery.

On May 3rd, 2014, the Dodge’s owner contacted the Newark Police Department to report that her vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the Caravan, which was installed at Major Chrysler Plymouth Jeep in Long Island City, NY, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, officers from the Montclair PD picked up the silent homing signals coming from the stolen minivan on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers located the Dodge in a shopping mall, where it was abandoned in the parking lot. The Caravan was retrieved and soon returned to its relieved owner.
