The LoJack® System Helps Illinois State Troopers and New Lenox Police Recover Stolen Land Rover Range Rover

In this case, a Land Rover Range Rover stolen off the street in Chicago, IL is recovered in a suburb 45 minutes away thanks to some excellent police work and help from the LoJack® system hidden inside the SUV.

On April 24th, 2014, the Land Rover’s owner contacted the Chicago Police Department to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Range Rover, which was installed at Laurel Jaguar in Tinley Park, IL.

A short while later, a trooper from the Illinois State Police picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The Land Rover was located at a used car dealership in New Lenox. Police from New Lenox also responded to the scene. The lot owner stated that it had been dropped off for repair. The investigation is ongoing. The Range Rover was retrieved and soon returned to its pleased owners.
