This case involves a 2010 Mercedes-Benz C300 stolen from its owners’ residence in the Northside Andersonville neighborhood of Chicago, IL, on a recent Wednesday. The LoJack® system that was installed when the car was purchase proved to be a smart investment. With LoJack’s help, local law enforcement recovered the Benz, without damage, later that same evening.

ON May 14th, 2014, the owner of the Mercedes contacted the Chicago Police Department to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the C300, which was installed at HBL Mercedes Benz in Vienna, VA.

A short while later, a sergeant from the Chicago PD 20th District picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The Mercedes was soon located, parked and abandoned on West Summerdale Avenue. The undamaged C300 was retrieved and quickly returned to its grateful owners.
