The Honda Civic in this case was stolen from a dealership in Kirkland, WA, and recovered in nearby Edmonds less than 30 minutes later by local law enforcement, with help from a LoJack® system installed in California.

When the crime was discovered on April 24th, 2014 by the dealer management, it was reported to the Washington State Patrol Regional Auto Theft Unit in Bellevue. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This action automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Civic, which was installed at Sierra Honda in Monrovia, CA.

A short while later, Edmonds and Mill Creek PD officers received the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in the patrol vehicles. The Honda was located at an apartment complex in Mountlake Terrace, where it was parked and abandoned. The undamaged Civic was retrieved and soon returned to the dealership.
