The owner of a Nissan Frontier parked his truck in front of his home in Bronx, NY, on a recent Thursday. When he couldn’t find his keys a little later that day, he looked outside and his fear was realized- the pickup was gone as well. Because the vehicle had a LoJack® system installed when it was purchased, local police were able to recover it- without damage- later that same day.

On May 1st, 2014, the Nissan’s owner contacted the NYPD 48th Precinct to report his vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the NYSPIN and NCIC state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Frontier, which was installed at Cox Nissan in Bronx, NY.

A short while later, officers from the NYPD Auto Crime Division and the 42nd Precinct picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen truck on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Nissan was located traveling with three occupants inside. The officers performed a traffic stop and took the three into custody. The undamaged Frontier and its keys were soon returned to its extremely happy owner.
