On a recent Thursday, a 2011 Honda Civic was stolen from the Flatbush section of Brooklyn, NY. Because its owner was smart enough to have the LoJack® system installed when she purchased her vehicle, local law enforcement recovered it safely later that same day.

On May 1st, 2014, the Honda’s owner contacted the NYPD 63rd Precinct to report that her vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Civic, which was installed at Hillside Honda in Queens, NY.

A short while later, officers from the NYPD Brooklyn South Task Force picked up the silent homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Honda was located at a bank in Flatbush, where it was parked and abandoned in the lot. The Civic, in excellent condition, was retrieved and soon returned to its elated owner, who stated that purchasing LoJack when she bought the vehicle was well worth the expense.
