On a recent Friday morning, the owner of a Pontiac Grand Prix in Miami, FL, discovered their vehicle missing from the front of their home. The car wasn’t gone for long thanks to the excellent work of local law enforcement and the assistance of the LoJack® system installed inside the Grand Prix. It was recovered later that same day.

On April 11th, 2014, the Pontiac’s owner contacted the Miami Police Department to report their vehicle stolen. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Grand Prix, which was installed at Maroone Chevrolet of Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Within minutes of activation, Miami-Dade PD officers picked up the silent homing signal from the stolen car on their on-board LoJack tracking computer. The Pontiac was located near N.W. 6th Avenue and 69th Street in Miami. Officers from the Miami PD retrieved the Grand Prix and soon returned it to its pleased owner.
