The Bronx, NY resident in this case was having a tough day recently. First he lost his car keys, and then the person who found them stole his Acura TL from his residence. The LoJack® system installed in the vehicle proved its worth by helping local law enforcement recover it later that same day, quickly, safely and without damage.

On April 23rd, 2014, the Acura’s owner contacted the NYPD 45th Precinct to report his vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the NYSPIN and NCIC state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the TL, which was installed at Acura of Boston, MA.

A short while later, officers assigned to the NYPD Bronx Auto Larceny Unit picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Acura was located on Buttrick Avenue in the Bronx, where it was parked and unoccupied. After a brief surveillance, the undamaged TL was retrieved and returned to its extremely happy owner.
