The Chicago, IL resident in this case left his Lexus RX 330 unattended with the keys in the ignition. When he returned, the car was gone. The LoJack® system that was installed when the vehicle was purchased proved its value by assisting local law enforcement in recovering it that same day, quickly, safely, and without any damage.

On April 18th, 2014, the owner of the Lexus contacted the Chicago Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the RX 330, which was installed at Luxury Motors in Downers Grove, IL.

A short while later, officers from the Chicago PD picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Lexus was found parked and abandoned in Chicago’s South Shore neighborhood, with the keys still in the ignition. The undamaged RX 330 was retrieved and returned to its thankful owner.
