It was just before midnight on a recent Friday when the owner of a Toyota RAV4 discovered his SUV was missing from his Las Vegas, NV home. His local police, aided by the LoJack® system installed in his vehicle, recovered it in less than an hour after activation.

On April 4th, 2014 the Toyota’s owners contacted the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the RAV4, which was installed at Wondries Toyota in Alhambra, CA.

A short while later, officers with the LVMP and the Nevada Highway Patrol picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Toyota was located in an alleyway off Silver Dollar Avenue, where it was parked and abandoned. Police retrieved the RAV4 and soon returned it to its thankful owner.
