An Acura MDX was stolen from its owners’ residence in Brooklyn, NY, on a recent Thursday. Thanks to the LoJack® system that was installed when the vehicle was purchased, local police were able to recover the SUV later that same day.
On April 17th, 2014, the Acura’s owner contacted NYPD’s 75th Precinct to report their vehicle was stolen, Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the NYSPIN state and NCIC federal crime computers. The LoJack device system concealed in the MDX, which was installed at McGrath Acura of Westmont, IL, was then automatically activated.
A short while later, officers from NYPD’s 75th Precinct picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Acura was found parked and abandoned in an NYC Housing Authority lot in Brooklyn. After a short surveillance, the Acura was retrieved and soon returned to its relieved owner.
