The owners of a Saturn Ion parked it in a paid lot in Charlotte, NC, on a recent Wednesday. When they returned to the lot, the car was gone, possibly with a set of keys misplaced while unloading the vehicle. Thanks to the LoJack® system hidden in the Ion, local law enforcement recovered it that same day.

On April 9th, 2014, the Saturn’s owner contacted the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) to report that their vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers.  This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Ion, which was installed at Saturn of Freehold, It was at this time, without the owner having any knowledge of LoJack being equipped in the car, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Saturn Ion.

A short while later, officers from CMPD picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Saturn was found next to a vacant residence on Snowdrop Drive, where it was parked and abandoned. The undamaged Ion was retrieved and soon returned to its grateful owner.
