On a recent Tuesday, the owner of a Mercury Sable in Detroit, MI, discovered his car was missing from his driveway. Although it was April Fool’s Day, this incident was no joke. Luckily, he had some serious protection for his vehicle with the LoJack® system. With LoJack’s help, local law enforcement recovered the Sable later that same day.

On April 1st, 2014, the Mercury’s owner contacted the Detroit Police Department to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Sable, which was installed at Enterprise Car Sales in Farmington Hills, MI.

A short while later, members of the ACTION Auto Theft Task Force picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on their LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  The Mercury was located parked and abandoned at a vacant residence. After a brief surveillance, the Sable was retrieved and soon returned to its relieved owner.
