When an Acura MDX was stolen in Bethesda, MD, the LoJack® system that was installed when it was purchased really proved its worth. With assistance from LoJack, local police not only recovered the SUV, but arrested the suspected thief and recovered items from an unrelated burglary, all on the same day as the theft.

On April 8th, 2014, the Acura’s owner contacted the Montgomery County Police Department to report that their SUV was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the MDX, which was installed at Tischer Acura in Laurel, MD.

A short while later, detectives from the Montgomery County PD picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The detectives located the Acura traveling on Addison Road in Seat Pleasant, and performed a traffic stop. The driver was arrested. In the vehicle, police found items stolen from a residential burglary that occurred in the same area as the vehicle theft. The MDX was retrieved and soon returned to its grateful owner.
