The Sacramento, CA residents in this case were returning from a vacation out of state. The first thing they noticed when they arrived home was an empty driveway where their 2014 Chevrolet Silverado had been parked. Even though they weren’t sure how long it had been gone, their local police, with help from the LoJack® system, were able to recover it in less than 15 minutes after activation.

On April 4th, 2014, the Chevy’s owner contacted the Sacramento Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Silverado, which was installed at John L. Sullivan Chevrolet in Roseville, CA

A few minutes later, officers from both the Sacramento PD and the California Highway Patrol Air Operations began to receive the silent homing signal from the stolen truck on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles and aircraft. The Chevy was located on Fruitridge Road, parked and abandoned. The Silverado, valued at $31,500, was soon back in the possession of its happy owners.
