In this case, a Ford F-150 is stolen from the parking lot of a strip mall in South Montgomery County, TX, while its owners were shopping on a recent Saturday. Local police were able to recover the stolen truck the same day it was taken, thanks to the LoJack® system that was installed when the pickup was purchased.

On March 29th, 2014, the Ford’s owner reported the crime to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the F-150, which was installed at Gullo Ford Mercury in Conroe, TX.

A short while later, an air crew from the Texas Department of Public Safety picked up the homing signals from the stolen truck on the LoJack tracking computer installed in its helicopter. The Ford was located traveling north on US 249. Ground units initiated a traffic stop. The driver fled on foot but was quickly taken into custody by a K-9 officer. The F-150 was soon returned to its thankful owners.
