While the Texas residents in this case were shopping at a large retail store in Galveston, a thief was stealing their Dodge R15 in the parking lot. Thanks to a previous purchase- the LoJack® system, which was installed when the pickup was bought- local police were able to recover the truck the same day.

On March 24th, 2014, the Dodge’s owner contacted the Galveston Police Department. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack transponder concealed in the R15, which was installed at Champion Chrysler Jeep in Houston, TX, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, a Texas Department of Public Safety airship picked up the homing signals from the stolen truck on its onboard LoJack tracking computer.  The flight crew located the Jeep in a motel parking lot and notified the Galveston County Auto Crimes Task Force. After a brief surveillance, the R15 was retrieved and soon returned to its thankful owners.
