The Charlotte, NC resident in this case had a really bad week. Their Ford Expedition was broken into and the contents were stolen, including a bag that had a spare key to the SUV inside. A few days later, the vehicle was stolen from their apartment complex, probably by the same suspect. Thanks to the LoJack® system that was installed when the Expedition was purchased, local police were able to recover it quickly and safely that same day.

On March 28th, 2014, the Ford’s owner reported the crime to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Expedition, which was installed at Enterprise Car Sales in Whitestone NY.

A short while later, officers from the CMPD picked up the homing signals from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the Ford to an apartment complex off Mayfair Ave, where it was parked and abandoned. The retrieved Expedition was soon returned to its happy owner.
