This case involves a Pontiac Grand Am stolen in Idaho that was recovered in Utah by police assisted by the LoJack® system installed in the vehicle when it was purchased in Pennsylvania.

On March 19th, 2014, the Pontiac’s owners contacted the Idaho Falls Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Grand Am, which was installed at Peruzzi Pontiac in Fairless Hills, PA.

Less than an hour after activation, an officer with the Salt Lake City, UT Police picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The officer located the Pontiac, parked and abandoned in an apartment complex lot. The undamaged Grand Am was retrieved and soon returned to its thankful owner.
