This case involves a Toyota Corolla stolen in Maryland that was recovered in less than four hours by local law enforcement with help from the LoJack® system installed inside the car. While locating the LoJack protected vehicle, police found two other recently stolen cars, plus numerous items and credit cards taken in recent burglaries. They also took two suspects into custody.

On February 11th, 2014, the Toyota’s owner contacted the Montgomery County Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Corolla, which was installed at Fitzgerald Lakeforest Toyota in Gaithersburg, MD.

A short while later, detectives from the Montgomery County PD Auto Theft Unit picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The detectives tracked the Toyota vehicle to Dairyton Court, where they observed it being operated by a driver with three passengers. The officers performed a traffic stop on a dead end street, and all occupants fled on foot. Two were quickly apprehended, and detectives found two other recently stolen vehicles in the area, as well as items from other recent robberies inside all three cars. The Corolla was retrieved and quickly returned to its grateful owner.
