The Haltom City, TX resident in this case did something a lot of us might do- he started up his 2012 Honda Civic to go to work, then decided he needed a jacket, and ran into the house to get one, leaving the vehicle running and unlocked. He was only gone for a few seconds, but that’s all it took for a thief to jump into the driver’s seat and take off with the car.  This victim was glad he decided to have the LoJack® system installed when purchasing the Civic, because, with LoJack’s help, local law enforcement recovered it in less than three hours after activation.

On February 3rd, 2014, the Honda’s owner contacted Haltom City Police and made a report. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Civic, which was installed at Huggins Honda in North Richland Hills, TX.

A short time later, officers with the Fort Worth Police picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers located the Honda in a restaurant parking lot.  Two suspects standing nearby were detained. The Civic, valued at $15,000, was in good condition and was soon returned to its relieved owner.
