On a recent Tuesday, the owners of a Ford F-350 discovered their pickup was missing from their home. The truck was not gone for long thanks to the LoJack® system that was installed when it was purchased. With LoJack’s help, it took local police only 17 minutes after activation to recover it.

On January 7th, 2014, the Ford’s owners contacted the Broward County Sheriff’s Office to report their vehicle stolen. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the F-350, which was installed at Maroone Ford of Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Minutes later, a Florida Highway Patrol trooper picked up the homing signal from the stolen truck on their on-board LoJack tracking computer. The Ford was located on N.W. 169th Terrace in Miami Gardens, parked and unoccupied behind an abandoned house. Troopers retrieved the F-350 and soon returned it to its thankful owners.
