The Idaho residents in this case were staying with friends in Utah when their Honda Accord was stolen. The LoJack® system inside their vehicle was originally installed in New York State, but is effective in any US state with LoJack coverage. Thanks to area law enforcement, with help from LoJack, the vehicle was recovered in less than 45 minutes after activation.

On March 17th, 2014, the Honda’s owners contacted the West Valley City Police Department to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Accord, which was installed at Hillside Honda in Jamaica, NY.

A short while later, officers with the Salt Lake City PD picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Honda was located, parked and abandoned, in an apartment complex lot in Salt Lake City. The undamaged Accord was retrieved and soon returned to its happy owners.
