A recent Thursday morning turned out to be anything but typical for these South Carolina residents when they exited their home just before 8 a.m. and discovered their 2011 Toyota Tundra had been stolen. The LoJack® system that they had installed when purchasing their pickup proved its worth by helping local police recover the truck later that same day.

On March 13th, 2014, the Toyota’s owner contacted the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office to report that their vehicle was stolen. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Tundra, which was installed at Town & Country Toyota in Charlotte, NC.

A short while later, deputies from the GCSO picked up the homing signals from the stolen truck on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Toyota was being driven around the city and then headed for a rural area. After a brief pursuit, the driver stopped the pickup and took off on foot along with his passenger. The undamaged Tundra was retrieved and soon returned to its happy owner.
