Late on a recent Sunday evening, the owner of an Infiniti FX45 parked his SUV on the street near his Brooklyn, NY home, and walked to his front door. As he entered the hallway, three young men entered with him, produced guns and demanded his property. Besides taking his wallet and money, they also took his keys and his vehicle. This victim was very lucky that he was not injured. He was also smart enough to have the LoJack® system installed when he purchased his FX45, so local police were able to recover it in less than five hours after activation.

On March 9th, 2014, the Infiniti’s owner reported the incident to the NYPD 77th Precinct in Brooklyn. The officers took a written report and entered the SUV’s information into the NYPD stolen auto computer and the NCIC national computer, which is the stolen car alert for the United States. The LoJack transponder installed in the FX45, which was installed at Kings Infiniti in Brooklyn, NY, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, officers from the 81st precinct picked up the homing signal from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers located the Infiniti parked and abandoned in the lot of a housing complex. After a brief surveillance, the undamaged FX45 was retrieved and soon returned to its elated owner.
