The faster a stolen car, truck, van or motorcycle is recovered, the less chance there is of major harm coming to it at the hands of a thief (totaling the machine in an accident, stripping it for parts, etc.) Swift, safe recovery is the goal of the LoJack® system. In this case, a missing Chevrolet Silverado is recovered by police, aided by LoJack, in just 12 minutes after activation.

On February 28th, 2012, the Chevy’s owner contacted Westminster Police to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the truck’s VIN (vehicle identification number) into the NCIC auto theft computer. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Silverado, which was installed at AutoNation Chevrolet North, in Denver, CO.

A short while later, a Westminster PD officer received the homing signal from the stolen truck on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The officer found the Chevy parked and abandoned near 85th Avenue and North Chase Street. The Silverado was retrieved and soon returned to its thankful owner.
