A Nissan Maxima was discovered missing in Bronx, NY, around 10:30 pm on a recent Thursday evening. Because its owner was smart enough to have the LoJack® system installed when purchasing her vehicle, local law enforcement were able to recover in in just one and half hours after activation.

On February 27th, 2014, the Nissan’s owner contacted the NYPD 43rd Precinct to report the incident. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the NYSPIN and NCIC state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Maxima, which was installed at Cox Nissan in Bronx, NY.

Just a few minutes later, NYPD officers assigned to the 45th Precinct picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers located the Nissan parked and unoccupied in a gated outdoor lot on Roberts Ave. After a brief surveillance, the Maxima was retrieved and soon returned to its happy owner.
