This case involves a 2012 Ford F-250 rental truck that was stolen from a large national home improvement chain’s Atlanta, GA store. Because this company chose to protect its fleet with the LoJack® system, local police assisted by LoJack were able to recover the vehicle in just over three hours after activation.

On February 18th, 2014, the store manager reported to the DeKalb County Police Dept. that the Ford was missing from their parking lot. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack transponder concealed in the F-250 was then automatically activated.

A short while later, a DeKalb County PD officer began receiving a homing signal from the stolen truck on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. He located the Ford in a shopping center lot where it was parked and abandoned. The F-250 was retrieved and quickly returned to the home improvement store.
