The owner of a GMC Yukon in Phoenix, AZ, discovered her SUV missing from her home on a recent Tuesday afternoon. Thanks to the LoJack® system installed when the vehicle was purchased, police were able to recover it in just 71 minutes after activation, and catch the thief, who turned out to be someone she knew.

On February 18th, 2014, the GMC’s owner called Phoenix Police to report the crime. The stolen vehicle information was then entered into the NCIC police computer. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Yukon, which was installed at Power Toyota/Scion in Tempe, AZ.

A very short while later, officers with the Phoenix PD began picking up the homing signal from the stolen SUV with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers located the GMC parked in the garage at a residence on West Vermont Avenue. Officers made contact with the occupant, who turned out to be the ex-husband of the Yukon’s owner. The SUV was retrieved and soon returned to its relieved owner.
