Imagine the shock you would feel if you walked out of a business and discovered your car was missing from the parking lot. This situation occurred on a recent Thursday morning to the Florida residents in this case, who were very glad that they chose to have the LoJack® system installed when they purchased their Toyota FJ Cruiser. Local police, assisted by LoJack, were able to recover the vehicle in just over two and a half hours after activation.

On January 30th, 2014, the Toyota’s owner contacted the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office to report that their vehicle was stolen from a gas station. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the FJ Cruiser, which was installed at Coggin Toyota of the Avenues in Jacksonville, FL, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, deputies from the Jacksonville SO picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Toyota was located near West 7th Street and Pearce Street in West Jacksonville, where it was found parked and abandoned on a common driveway behind a row of houses. The undamaged FJ Cruiser was retrieved and soon returned to its thankful owner.
