The Portland, OR residents in this case woke up late on a recent Wednesday, only to discover that their Honda Civic Hybrid had been taken overnight. Thanks to the LoJack® system these owners had installed when buying their vehicle, it took less than two and a half hours after activation for local law enforcement to recover it.

On February 5th, 2014, the Honda’s owners reported the theft to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies verified the information and entered the VIN into the NCIC stolen vehicle database.  This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Civic, which was installed at Larry Hopkins Honda in Sunnyvale, CA.

A short while later, Washington County deputies received the homing signal transmitting from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol cars.  The Honda was located on NW Bethany Boulevard where it was found parked and abandoned. Police retrieved the undamaged Civic Hybrid and soon returned it to its grateful owners.
