The owner of a 2011 Kawasaki EX250 motorcycle in this case noticed it was missing from his Berkeley, CA home on a recent Saturday afternoon. The LoJack® system he had installed when purchasing his bike proved to be a wise investment. With LoJack’s help, local law enforcement recovered the bike in less than four hours after activation.

On February 15th, 2014, the Kawasaki’s owner reported the crime to the Berkeley Police. Officers verified the crime information and entered the bike’s information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the EX250, which was installed at Long Beach Motorsports in Long Beach, CA.

Later that afternoon, a California Highway Patrol air unit picked up the homing signals from the stolen bike on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their helicopter. The flight crew located the Kawasaki at a private residents and requested assistance from Vallejo ground officers. The motorcycle was found in the home’s garage, and the occupant of the house was arrested. The EX250 was soon returned to its grateful owner.
