In this case, a Volkswagen Jetta was discovered stolen in Baltimore, MD early one Wednesday morning. Because this owner had the LoJack® system installed when he purchased his vehicle, local police assisted by LoJack were able to recover it in less than a half hour after activation.

On February 12th, 2014, the VW’s owner contacted the Baltimore County Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack device concealed in the Jetta, which was installed at Russel Volkswagen in Baltimore, MD, was then automatically activated.

Within minutes of the activation, detectives from the Baltimore Regional Auto Theft Team picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The detectives located the VW on Dulany Street in Baltimore, where it was parked and unoccupied. After a brief surveillance, the theft suspect returned to the vehicle and was taken into custody. The undamaged Jetta was soon returned to its thankful owner.
