This case involves a Honda Element discovered stolen on a recent Wednesday night in Nevada. Thanks to the LoJack® system its owner had installed when purchasing his SUV, it was recovered by local law enforcement in just 60 minutes after activation.

On January 8th, 2014, the Honda’s owner contacted the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office to report the crime. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the NCIC national stolen vehicle data base. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Element, which was installed at Avery Greene Honda in Vallejo, CA.

Just an hour later, officers with the Nevada Highway Patrol began to receive the homing signal from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The troopers located the Honda, parked and abandoned at a residence near Ramsey and Lennon Streets in the Lemmon Valley area. The Element was retrieved and soon returned to its happy owner.
