In this case, Houston, TX Police and a Texas State Police flight crew team up with the LoJack® system to recover a Caterpillar D-5 Crawler Tractor/Dozer stolen from a job site in Baytown.

On January 10th, 2014, the Caterpillar’s owner contacted the Baytown Police Department to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the D-5.

A short while later, Texas State Helicopter IDAHO 11 picked up the homing signals from the stolen machine on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their airship. The flight crew located the Caterpillar hidden in a grove of trees in a large field, along with a previously stolen pickup. Houston PD ground units were summoned to the area and retrieved the dozer and the truck. The tractor/dozer was soon returned to the construction site.
